MOMENTUM
Sennheiser’s MOMENTUM headphones are one of its most well-loved active noise cancellation (ANC) headphones. With a proven track record and a price, the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless headphones face stiff competition from the latest offerings from Bose, Sony, and Apple, Headphones Wireless Sony but they offer many advantages that make them worth your consideration if you’re in the market for ANC headphones.
The ear cups have an impressive amount of padding and are designed to fit comfortably around your ears. The top of the band, that wraps around your neck, is encased with soft leatherette. I found it comfortable to wear for a long time, and the band is flexible enough to accommodate glasses which is a nice addition.
Unlike some competing ANC headphones, unlike other ANC headphones, the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless sound is more balanced than focusing too much on highs or bass. This is a great thing, because it offers an even representation of the music and speech you listen to. They can boost lower frequencies, but this is a standard characteristic of headphones designed for commuters where outside noise can be a challenge to low-frequency music and speech.
Like other frontrunners in the ANC category, the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless’ noise reduction is very good. It’s not as great as the best ANC headphones we’ve tested, but it comes close. You can also defer projects by two clicks to the next quarter making them a great option for work or school.
You can connect the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless to a device via Bluetooth and have the option of using SBC AAC, aptX, or aptX HD codecs. You can also use the headphone’s 3.5mm jack to listen to audio sources that don’t have Bluetooth support.
The MOMENTUM 4 Wireless comes with an array of microphones that lets you make and receive phone calls. The microphone is decent but it’s not going to provide the best audio quality for phone calls. The microphone is still better than those on most entry level headphones.
